Re: Easy Rudder Pull Down

I have a similar arrangment except 1-1 and the jam cleat is mounted on a pivot attached to a crib and kicks up when I run aground. It's a small boat part I got at Anapolis Sailing, and quite usefull as I have to kick down and up each time I go in and out of my dock. I do find myself having better pi...

Shroud turnbuckle failure

Kerr-Chunk! That's the sound as the load shifted from port to starboard shrouds as we tacked in 25 knots of wind with the main reefed and the jib flying. The only immediately noticeable change was that the mast was out of column and it seemed best to take down sail and motor home, we were close in a...

when I purchased Illusion 8 years ago, I had the same problem, perhaps best explained by no zinc found! It was an absolute bear to drill out and I also ended up at the machine shop. Once you have the foot of the mast off you might epoxy in a coin (with an image of a ship for luck) for Neptune, he li...

Time to pay your dues ;o} (sorry post in wrong topic...)

From the class associaton '06 mtg mnts: "After discussion it was suggested that we raise the dues for 2007 to 35.00 or 40.00 dollars for boat owners and keep the associate dues at 25.00 dollars. There should be a multiple year membership choice (for those who might forget to pay smaller amounts...

I sail chesapeake which blesses with a soft bottom, however it's shallow especially at my pier and not quite as soft as one might think. When going out or comming in I do it with the rudder and board both fully up, I rigged a dinghy style rudder kick up controler and use it to show more blade as I g...

Genoa Lead Cars

Has anyone figured out what genoa lead car replaces the Schafer large shive ones that I think are original to the boat?
I have trolled all the usual suspect web sites and twice purchased cars that did not fit (too snug).
Thanks

Early threads, perhaps on the old site, had concluded that CDs worked fine, but having used them, only for a season each. I'm not so sure it's importsnt that they be Yani but it can do no harm. If you have the stock cheeks the pin is 5/16 w/ a clear dimension of 3.5 and available from Anapolis saili...

When I rebuilt the D7 on Illusion, I recall reading that it was a standard Bosh Starter also commonly used by VW, in which case an auto-part should provide a match. I'll look thru the manual next time I have access.

Boom Gooseneck Toggle

Any chance any one has previously identified our gooseneck toggle as a standard part, or available somewhere?
alternativly is there a suitable replacment assembly for it, mated with the mast bracket?
Or are we resigned to having a replacment made?

Thanks

I have purchased the very pin, just can't remember if it was from Fawcett or APS,2 years ago, I also keep a wood dowel onboard, 101 uses, measure the fuel level and so forth.

The pintels, located on the leeding edge of the rudder, sit on the gudgeons and provide the attachment and pivot between the rudder and the transom.
