RF

I installed a RF on my S2 a few years ago because half of my sailing was ith my wife and my two sons 4 & 9. It has performed pretty well. I think I was a bit lucky, I obtained a Harken flex furler before they stopped production the furler is a little bigger than the tuff luff but it seems to off...

When to douse the Spinnaker

We have had a few big storms roll through this summer and we learned a few things I thought I would pass on. We were in our last Wednesday night race of the season and we were not in the running for hardware but we have made such progress this summer that we were boiling over with enthusiasm. At the...

Membership

I am involved in a youth sports program and I can attest to the hard work that goes into keeping a volunteer organization going. I am greatful that there are people willing to put in the time to keep things a float.

Nice Job

Keel Winch

When I pulled my winches apart I found that I had wear on one of the idler gears in the winch. The bore was a bit egg shaped. It was not bad enough to prevent the winch from working but I decided to move it to the other side where it would see less use and less load. My winches are Barrient self tai...

The D-ring may be my problem - I don't recall seeing a D-ring on the stainless steel bridge, I will have to give it a look. The end of the line terminates through a hole in the stainless steel now.

The marina that pulled the keel may have left something off when they put it back.

Thanks!

Keel Lift Line Question

My keel was out of my boat for about 1 year and when I put it back in I am not sure I got it quite right. The bar always came straight up and the pin aligned with the hole in the bracket for pinning the board in the up position. Now the hole does not align the way it did before and the board seems h...

Business Plan Suggestion

Water is not critical for the manufacture - as a trailerable boat you could build the boats anywhere. Most of the big companies are farming out the actual fiberglass work or even the full build. The real challenge is marketing and developing the nitch market and hitting the right price point. A comp...

Sand Blasting

I refinished my bottom 2 years ago. The bottom was sand blasted and I repaired a number of blisters and defects. Prior to barrier coating I longboarded the hull and used Interprotect 2000E. My bottom was primed with VC Tar which virtually eliminated the possibility of sanding. The VC Tar clogged the...

Head Liner

I was cleaning the boat this weekend getting it ready for the season and I noticed a section of my head line sagging down (~24" diameter). I am planning on putting a fine slit in the liner and reattach it using contact cement. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if they had a...

Hand Truck

I recently refinished my keel and used a hand truck to move it around and store it. Other than having to stand it up to flip it over it worked well. When I wanted to flip it over I would place blocks under the front and back edge to allow me to remove the hand truck and put it on the other side. The...

Asymetric Spinnaker

I have been contemplating the same thing lately. I race mostly PHRF and have been going against a J80 and have seen the merits of the Asym. Several years ago before I bought my S2 7.9 I was looking at Hobie 33's and they have modified quite a few to use Asymetrical Spinnakers. They designate them as...

Trailer Help

I got a call last week from the marina where my trailer was stored. Apparently the marina chanaged hands and so did my trailer. It was built by a company called Dillon and I am investigating getting a replacement. I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Barient Winch Parts

My boat is equipped with Barient 19ST winches and I found the springs broken in one of them. I have tried to find replacement springs to no avail. If anyone knows a souce for these springs I would appreciate your help. Thus far I ordered a Barient repair kit from Boat US - manufactured by Lewmar - N...

PSS installation

I was wondering if anyone experienced difficulty installing the PSS seal. I recently tried to install one on my S2 and failed miserably. The Orings would cut each time I tried to slide it on the shaft. I tried putting a bevel on the end of the shaft and I even epoxied the keyway closed to prevent th...
