Will halyards rub if crossed?

I'm in the process of mounting a cleat on the mast so the foredeck can raise/lower the spinnaker without the help of the cockpit. I appreciate all the past writings on this subject. One question that was never posed or addressed was in crossing the halyards inside the mast. We typically use the haly...

All, I noticed the meniton of a "Silver" fleet in the CCR results. This is a great idea, is it new?? Although my wife and I have several years of racing experience, we've only owned our first boat (the 7.9) for 2 years now, and all of our crew have never sailed prior to us bringing them ou...

Mark,

Was your centerboard up or down during the 30 knot broach? If it was up, that's good to know, althought I have noticed it written before that the 7.9 is self-righting even with the board up.

Non Lake Michigan S2 7.9 Ratings

I just wanted to point out that S2 7.9s that I've encountered that race in places other than Lake Michigan (Lake Pepin, MN; St. Croix, WI; Minnetonka, MN) have a PHRF rating of 168, not 165. Does anyone know where/why this difference came from? They are allowed to raise their centerboards, so it's n...

We try to sail with 15-20 degrees, based on an old Northsails guide that came with the boat. Obviously with light winds you may not be able to obtain that.

To get more heel, stick your extra crew along the cabin on the leward side. At least that's what us unexperienced folks do.

Quinn, We just replaced the delron sheaves this summer. We have 4 cars, and we picked the worst 2 and sent them to Shaefer to get them repaired (kept the other two to use). The cost was $60 some per (maybe more since it was in season?), and it took about a week and a half from when I mailed the pack...
