Re: Tow weight all up.
Thanks took the truck. Even though it is only a half mile at most last thing I wanted to do was ruin my RVs transmission.

Tow weight all up.
My RV has a 5,000 lb tow capacity. My S2 is on the calkins trailer mast up. The distance from the parking area to the ramp is under a 1/2 mile with a steep road about 900 feet long. I would really really like to use my RV to launch my boat for the weekend vs my truck. but concerned my RV is under eq...

Re: Leaking from Keel cover
"Mine does the same thing, but has a backing plate on the inside where the screws come through the carpet. Also, no wing nuts ;-)." Interesting yours also has a backing plate on the port side of the head. To me it seems like a bad repair. The starboard side screws go straight down into som...

Re: Shore Power
As I have read it, it is the non flexible wires becoming brittle over time from being flexed. I would not be too worried but the exposed 120v wires would scare me. I have wired my own house and have been zapped a few times, once this past summer. I like to avoid that as much as I can.

Re: Shore Power
Reidmefirst Is your wiring really romex? If done right it should be duplex or something like that. House wire wrapped in the white sheath looks just like that but it is solid copper wire. A boat should have stranded copper wire if done properly even tinned wire to avoid corrosion, but not necessary....

Re: Stern Rail Retrofit
What is the preferred design if ordering from Whitewater Marine? I was suggested adding the Capri 22 pulpits as a retrofit? It seems like something mass produced might be faster and cheaper than having something custom built. Has anyone added the Catalina product to their 7.9? https://www.catalinadi...

Leaking from Keel cover
The plate that holds the top block for the keel lift is a source of leakage in my boat. We were stuck below during a storm. We saw water dripping in from bolts holding this down. Topside you can see the bolts go in crooked. They are not mounted in the wall below but instead come out of the side of t...

Re: Anyone use their boat as a cruiser?
Thanks Reidmefirst,
That is totally different than I imagined. I have both 1/2 and 3/4" marine grade plywood on hand and was going to do something simple with that but I am interested to see how your table works in each configuration.
Man I wish my carpet looked that nice.

Re: Anyone use their boat as a cruiser?
Sorry forgot to post this link in response to pictures of the V-berth storage. If you scan through the photos in this yachtworld listing there is a photos of the v-berth without the mirror in place. It is much better photo than i have for now.

Re: Anyone use their boat as a cruiser?
Look through the photos here for a pic of the forward storage compartment. I just spent part of this week working in there replacing my bow pulpit.
I think it would a good place to store bedding and maybe a duffel with clothes.

Foreseail control on the deck.
On a previous boat I ran a Bungee along both sides for and aft just behind the bow. I had clips in the middle of bungee I could stretch the two bungees and hook together to support the headsail in place until it was time to raise it. Does anyone do something like this on their 7.9? I would appreciat...

Re: Anyone use their boat as a cruiser?
Got it you have the built in motor, mine is an 9.9 outboard and the alternator output is supposedly between 6-8 amps so not much. 50 amps or even 35 amps would be nice. A built in diesel would make the boat more of a cruiser. I really like the space behind the stairs though. No sign of any table on ...

Re: Anyone use their boat as a cruiser?
Thanks for the info.
Are you not able to replace diods in the alternator?
How did you manage to add a photo to your post?
In a previous post you mentioned a table mine has none wher is yours? How is it mounted?

Re: Anyone use their boat as a cruiser?
How are your battery(s) installed? Mine was shoved right under the cabinet in the head. Only a #24 can fit in there, but barely. There are remnants of battery tie downs but it looks like they were corroded away, from maybe acid spill? I was thinking of adding a #27 batter box rotated for and aft wit...

Re: Anyone use their boat as a cruiser?
Thank you helps me a lot. When I camp it is usually out of my truck or in a tent so the boat cruising would be about the same. I would keep in simple maybe only one AC outlet, just to run a battery charger, then add a few 12v outlets by the sink and one by the head for charging phones, running fans....
