Re: "L" shaped backing plate for starboard chainplate?
I sistered 1/8 G10 plate on the forward side of the bulkhead and 1/4 G10 in the aft side. It eased my mind and should stretch the life of the bulkhead for several more years.

Re: Companionway Washboard Guides
Mcmaster carr has the uhmwpe. I bought the desired length and thickness and ripped it to size with a table saw, then routed out the channel. Did the same for the companionway slider tracks. Then replaced the washboard themselves and the covers for the board box. If you do the board box covers, reces...

Re: Advice for a 7.9 bottom job ??
I should clarify, I put FW21 (WM's version of VC17) for antifoul every year over the barrier coat. I'm extremely happy with the results from Total Boat's Total Protect Epoxy Barrier Coat Just finished my 4th season and it's holding up great! I did 4 coats. https://www.totalboat.com/product/totalprot...

It's comparable to Interprotect but costs slightly less.

All 4 winches are Lewmar Evo 30s.
The Clutches are Spinlock XAS.
"boomkicker" brand rigid vang.
The rest of the stuff is mostly stock gear that came with the boat.

Re: Mast spreaders
Yes. Like DougH said, take it off. It's better for the spreader hounds when you are trailering with the spreaders and shrouds detached anyways. I've heard the extra weight of the spreaders bouncing can cause the hounds to crack. I take off the spreaders and detach the shroud from the spreader by loo...

Re: Hatch boards ??
I used McMaster-Carr SKU 8769K847 to replace the hatch boards and SKU 8769K821 to replace the covers over the board box. In both cases I used the old ones as a template and cut them with a jigsaw using a PVC cutting blade. They cut like butter and turned out great. I re-used the latch hardware from ...

Bulkhead Rot Repair
Just dropping a note to share what we did on #20 to fix the rotted bulkhead where the starboard chain plate comes through and attaches to the boat. I used G11 plate from McMaster-Carr. The aft plate was 3/16 and the forward plate was 3/32 (Offshore Spars validated that moving the chainplate forward ...

Re: The hunt for a tow vehicle...
+1 on the Silverado 1500 although mine is much older 2004 - but it still has under <100K miles. I went full e-brakes when i bought my boat and tore out the hydraulic surge on my trailer as my truck has the factory 7 wire plug and added e-brake controller. I too have 4WD and I always use 4WD Low at t...
