Re: Need new Toe Rail

Thanks for the link, Doug, fingers crossed, maybe one of these will match the existing toe rail.

Need new Toe Rail

I was hit during a Wednesday night race a few weeks ago when another boat's bow hit straight into my port beam and took out about 6 inches of the toe rail including some damage to my deck and hull. I noticed that Chuck H was listed on the parts list and reached out. Chuck graciously returned my call...

mainsail suggestions

Hi all, the racing mainsail that came with my boat when I bought it fell apart last season and I'm in the market for a new one. This is the first time I've ever bought a sail and not really sure where to start. I read thru the section about mainsail in the class rules: https://s279.org/Documents/S27...

Outboard Motor Suggestions in 2020

It's hard to search this forum for posts related to outboard motor recommendations because the search engine thinks that "outboard" and "motor" and "engine" are common words and excludes them from the search. I found this thread which was helpful: https://www.s279.org/b...

Re: Bimini

I'm also interested in maybe adding a bimini. I researched a little a few months ago and found this: https://www.amazon.com/EmpireCovers-Bow-Bimini-Tops-67/dp/B007VENT60/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=thetinsai-20&linkId=83180bc95070f037efb73d9a7126c120&th=1 But I'm not sur...

Re: Mainsheet Traveler

Just wanted to bump this thread, I'm looking to update the configuration of my traveler so that it's easier for me to control in stronger wind. My S2 is from 1994 and (I think) it has the original traveler and original setup. I'm going to try connecting the 2 ends of the traveler line in a loop so I...

Re: why are upper shrouds so tight?

Just an update. Last year when I originally posted this, the shrouds were really tight. This year, while raising the mast for the season, we measured the forestay length and it's 31 ft 6.5 inches (that length includes a toggle on top and a toggle on the bottom). In addition, we realized that there w...

Re: Mainsheet Traveler

Thanks for this idea. I'm planning to upgrade to the "Brady Cleat" for this season. Looking forward to being able to control both sides of the traveler without having to move all the way to the other side of the boat!

Re: swim ladders

Thanks for the suggestions. I went with the Catalina 22 ladder and installed it this weekend. It looks like it's going to work really well, excited to try it out this summer, I'll try to post pics when I have more time.

swim ladders

Hi all, I found some suggestions for swim ladders in older threads, but thought it might be good to start more up-to-date thread. Anyone installed a swim ladder in past couple years? Any suggestions for a permanent swim ladder that's sturdy, long enough, and hopefully light weight and will stay out ...

Re: Help with upwind round up and weather helm

Last night, we were out for the Wednesday night race in moderate wind (around 13-15 knots). Happy to report zero round ups and felt completely in control the entire time with just the right amount of weather helm. Thanks to the advice in this thread, plus more experience sailing the boat, experiment...

Re: why are upper shrouds so tight?

Looks like I do have the toggle.

So, now I'm stumped again. Seems like I'm missing an inch of slack somewhere ... very strange.

Re: why are upper shrouds so tight?

Thanks for the tip, that definitely could be the problem, I was suspicious of the forestay. I'll check tomorrow if there's a toggle.

why are upper shrouds so tight?

I've loosened the turnbuckles of my upper shrouds as much as possible, but they're still really tight? I used a halyard to measure side to side and the mast seems centered. When I look up the mast, it seems straight. The shrouds appear to be running correctly (no weird kinks or turns or anything bla...
