Re: Bottom/Daggerboard Prep
As for the bottom job. Depends on your trailer. If you have a bunk trailer and it’s double bunked, you can alternate which bunk supports the boat. My prior S2 I bought a roller trailer, it allowed me to roll the boat back and forth to paint around the wheels. It's a roller trailer, so I can scoot i...

Re: Bottom/Daggerboard Prep
Here's a pic of a rig I built to lift my keel up for some repairs. Just some 4*4's, a few 2*8's, a harbor freight chain hoist, and some eye bolts. I use some old sheets with some carabiners or shackles connected to the rails. Pretty simple, more than strong enough for the 600lb keel. Weighed mine w...

Re: Trailer lift
Just to follow up on this, I would not recommend it. The contact points are quite small and the heads do not articulate enough to match the shape of the boat. Oh well....

Bottom/Daggerboard Prep
I'd like to lift the boat off of the trailer this year for a proper sanding and bottom prep. Ideally, I'd do this all in my driveway. How do you guys do it? There have been some previous discussions of bottle jacks and boat stands, but I'm unclear on placement. Does anyone happen to have some pictur...

Re: Grey water discharge
I just use the icebox for dry storage. I'm only concerned with draining the sink. Others have told me to put the discharge below the waterline, but I'm assuming that some anti-siphon protection would be needed for that.

Grey water discharge
I'm considering discharging the sink directly overboard. Have any of you done this? It seems like a through-hull above the waterline with a seacock hosed directly to the sink drain should do the trick. Right? The sink and icebox are basically useless, in my opinion. I'm going to be spending long wee...

Trailer lift
Have any of you used this lift system: https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/product/product-detail/98161 https://images.jamestowndistributors.com/images/boat_stands_and_blocks/tlift1.jpg It looks like it could be a great way to prep and paint the bottom, but I'm concerned that the head won't pivot ...

Hull electrical ground
It does not look like there is any designed-in electrical coupling between the hull and the water. Most boat designers will electrically couple the mast to the keel-bolts or to an external plate, but I don't see anything like this on the 7.9. Am I missing something here? Maybe I'm letting my paranoi...

Re: Traveler Upgrade - Access through bulkhead?
That looks like a great upgrade. But what really caught my eye are those snazzy cup holders! Where did you get those? The market is plagued with suction cup crap and models that are barely wide enough for a beer can.

Thru-hull transducer replacement
I have the original Datamarine instruments on hull #516 and am looking to update them. I'm assuming that I'll need to entirely replace the thru-hulls, correct? If there's a way to use the existing installation, that would be great I know, I'm dreaming...

Rudder gudgeon / cheekplate bulk order
Please shoot me a message if you are interested in a set of rudder gudgeons and/or cheekplates. I'd like to try to put together a bulk order for both this winter.
Cheers!

Cushion Pattern / Supplier
Hey all. My boat did not come with cushions and I'm looking to get a set. Does anyone happen to have a pattern available or know a supplier that's made these before? What are the class requirements regarding cushions?
Thanks a million!

Tuff Luff Twisting
Just put the mast up on my boat and noticed that the Tuff Luff foil is twisted around the forestay. It's not kinked at all, just a helical twist down the length.
Have any of you seen this before? Any advice? I'm a Tuff Luff newbie and don't know if this is a deal breaker.

Re: New member/boat intro
Thanks Jameso! The tips are much appreciated. I'll probably give it a go this weekend and will post photos of either a successfully raised mast or a twisted pile of aluminum and fiberglass.
