Re: Need a Forward Hatch Cover
I replaced my Bomar with a new Lewmar Series 40 Ocean hatch that I scored cheap on eBay. It was the flat style (no flange). I wasn't comfortable with how close the screw holes where to the edge of the opening so crafted some 1/2 inch edges made out of HDPE cutting board material. Looks good and fits...

Re: genoa car replacement
Ha! Sailing Uphill is talking about the mainsheet block. Good advice, but not the right response. I'm a cheap guy and when I was looking to replace my genoa blocks I didn't want to pay the big price for new Schaeffer blocks (32-77). So, I tried the Garhauer Low Lead Cars (LLC-1). Found them to be a ...

Re: Cracked rudder
Rudder Craft has a couple options. Not too sure about the kick up version, but thinking about buying one of their fixed versions.

Good News Everyone!
Sold the "Keel Donor" Boat. Headed to Kentucky to be lovingly restored. Hopefully you'll see Hull #128 on a racecourse near you!
Cheers!

Sell or Scrap?
Greetings S2ers! Some of you may have read below about our bad luck with a keel that delaminated or as I put it, "Exploded". A lot of promises and prices were discussed, but it seems none of the local boat shop guys around Texas want anything to do with it. So, long story short, we bought ...

Re: Exploding Daggerboard!
Thanks for the great responses. Much more helpful than those I'm getting on my post on Sailing Anarchy. Luckily, I have a couple of guys to chose from who are confident they can fix the board. Will make sure all cracks are repaired and the board is to class specs. I'm a bit wary to leave the b...

Exploding Daggerboard!
So, over the last couple months the wife and I have noticed our boat was getting slower. Couldn't figure it out. Our bottom cleaner didn't tell us anything. It all came to a head when we finished a 22 mile race an hour and twenty minutes behind the first place boat. That boat was an S2 7.9 that walk...

Re: Help with upwind round up and weather helm
I agree with Barry. Had the same problems. The rudder pin hole had wallowed out. I had to pull my rudder apart, fill the the holes with glass. Then put bracket back on so the rudder was parallel with it (actually pitched forward a bit) and re-drill the holes. Presto! Fixed. Now the boat barely has a...

Re: Traveler Upgrade - Access through bulkhead?
Got the brackets from sail22.com. They are the old style. A bit pricey, but worth it. I've had issues getting stuff from Mauri and Performance. They seem to always have the low prices, but never have the stuff when you order. Cupholders are essential in Texas! These are the soft versions from Beckso...

Re: Traveler Upgrade - Access through bulkhead?
So, figured I would relay the happy ending to this thread for those who would be interested. Ended up not having to cut through the bulkhead, nor squeeze my walrus sized body into the laserette.....or even hire a midget. After spending a lot of time figuring things out, I realized that if I mounted ...

Thanks for the reply, Sam. Did you notice where I was posting from? Everything is bigger in Texas!
