Something else you can do to reduce the swinging is to make a small triangle of sail cloth to hank on, or lash to the topping lift and boom at the aft end of the boom. 10 - 15 square feet will be sufficient. The reason the boat swings so much on the anchor/mooring is because of its flat bottom. This...

I don't know if they race sailboats on it, but Safer Lake, Monticello (an hour and a half or so North of Indy) is big enough for it. Also, south, just a bit from Bloomington, there is Monroe Resevoir and it too may have racing. I grew up just south of Indy and know that there is a lot of boating on ...

Ours is on a mooring from 01 March to 31 December every year. It is in a semi-sheltered basin with a number of other boats similarly moored. We used two moorings, one forward and one aft, with a pick-up line run between the two. It is affected by both tide and wind, but this system has worked well f...

9.3 according to the GPS and measured bouy to bouy on the chart. We were in sheltered water (bunch of small islands with few trees, close reaching in an estimated 18 knots of wind with the main and the 155. It was a hoot! We only had 3 miles to go before we doused and so didn't bother to shorten sai...

Re: outboard gas tank
When I bought my boat 10 years ago the previous owner had two six gallon tanks in the lazerettes, plumbed together to give twelve total gallons for cruising, but, my surveyor nearly wet his pants when he poked his head in there, cigar clenched between his teeth. The short answer; the lazerettes are...

We broke ours last summer and got an off-the-shelf laminated one from Boats-r US. It has a rise and we like it. We did have to make some teak shims for the sides because it was too narrow. A little 5200, some sanding to shape and some varnish . . . It looks great and is more comfortable (my opinion)...
