In Lake Sailing conditions where there can be no “mega wave assisted” speed records we could hit an absolute max of about 9.2 knots boatspeed downhill with the kite up and even that was riding some modest lake swell. By and large you are looking in the 8-9 boatspeed range on a properly calibrate...

You need to check the max. sail area codes for your particular PHRF region very carefully as they will vary from one PHRF region to the next. In our particular PHRF region the max. allowed genoa size is in fact larger than the max. class legal genoa size., however that is just in our particular area...

Our PHRF region, BC Sailing, currently allows the centerboard to be raised during racing. This has been twice protested and in both cases the 7.9 was deemed to race with the board raised. Our adjusted rating is 165 as both BC Sailing and PHRF NW added 10% to the rating database, meaning all of numbe...

S2 7.9 boats racing in PHRF please respond...

For those of you who race your S2 7.9 in PHRF my first question is….

1. What PHRF Region do you race in and are you allowed to raise your keel?

I will save my second question for later. Appreciate all responses.

Oddly I have new Schaefer cars and they do not properly fit the OEM T-Track. Also have replaced original sheaves.

On a side note, does anyone still use the old genoa deck turning blocks ?

I wanted to thank everyone for the input on the backstay; both here in the forum and through PM’s. We did end up making an upgrade to ours and are extremely happy with the results. For anyone who cares, here is a review of our backstay project from the team website….. "Backstay. The OEM dua...

If you are dealing with Doug Christie and Karl Funk I would give them a shot - both are good local guys who should do a good job for you. If you are not going the local route I would go with what Tom said, you will get a good product and speed right out of the box from Spike and Doyle Boston. One co...

I would suggest you buy 2 one gallon kits - so in other words two gallons of Inter-Protect. That should give you enough for up to 4 coats.

As for VC 17 I would suggest three cans shuld be enough for two coats.

A few comments on this…. Agree with what has been said about VC Tar – do not waste your time; Inter protect 2000 is a vastly superior product. From a racing standpoint, assuming you are in fresh water I would suggest a minimum of three coats, four is you feel so inclined. Keep in mind most of In...

Hanks or Headfoil. What do you use ?

Just curious on what everyone is using. And more so, for those of you who have run both systems what is your current preference ?

Re: Need new halyards for YJ

Help. I have to order 5/16 new halyards for the whole boat. Any recommendations? I looked but did not see any class rules related to halyards. What length, brand, and strenght? Thank you in advance. This is a first. Chris Carlton Yellow Jacket #238 Hi Chris, If you are racing and don't mind spendin...

Yes – 5/16 is the perfect diameter for halyards on the 7.9, aside from costing less, you save weight and eliminate friction – all are good things. The only downside is that you might possibly get some halyard slippage if you are using older rope clutches. As for your Spin. Question you could use...

Membership Dues ?

I was just wondering if there is any chance that the class could set up a paypal account so that dues could be paid by a credit card. Any thoughts on this ?
