Re: Fiberglass Repair Material

Re: Opening Port Lights
Hello again. One of the reasons I was looking for new hatches was that the screens were so degraded from sun they needed replacing. Cost shipped to Canada for 2 screens exceeded $100 USD. Took old ones out and replaced screening quite easily. Used coarse sand paper to remove screen remnants. Placed ...

Re: Sell or Scrap?
A little late to the party but S2, I believe, still has the molds for the rudder and keel. You might contact them. They make up the glass skins and you move the lead and new foam and bond the two halves together. Good luck.

Re: Sell or Scrap?
I would definitely sell. Seen worse than that. Have you looked at the boats for sale on this site ?? Not a one left and I suspect there must have been a doozer or two in there. Supply of used boats is thin and supply of boats is very limited. I would repair it myself then sell. If the boat came from...

Whatever you might use on your car. Gelcoat is softer than auto paint so use a little caution.

Re: Cockpit winch/rigging tips?
We have also removed the turning blocks. Every 180 degree turn doubles the load. I installed another block on a car as aft as possible while still ahead of winch. No over rides ever. Alternatively you could install an angled riser under the winch to improve the angle at which the sheet meets the win...

Re: Upwind Point
Not familiar with the Chaser or Soverel but we easily outpoint them all the others. Boat goes to weather best with about 3 - 4 inches of headstay sag. Counter intuitive I know but it works ! Need to keep boat at no more than 10 degrees of heel and trim headsail in to about an inch or two off spreade...
