I was looking at some of the 7.9 race photos and it appears that some of the boats sheet the #3 INSIDE the shrouds with the sheet block at the front end of the forward large window.
Am I seeing this correctly?

Re: Mast bend, is this weird?
I have a similar "reverse mast bend" on #352 (with max rake). I attribute some of it to the way the mast was stored on the boat and the middle pulled down too hard for trailering and storage. When I set up the boat in the spring I pull as much backstay tension as I can get, then set up the...

Dave,
I can only take credit for the Capri 22 set-up ... the 7.9 set up is "as bought"

Not to hijack Josh, but how was your first outing at the Equalizer?

IMG_8040 Cropped Tweaked.JPG IMG_1255 Cropped Tweaked.JPG Windward sheeting works well if you can arrange to pull horizontally relative to the plane of the traveler. I prefer the "Brady Cleat" approach with two cam cleats on an angle bracket fixed to the cockpit side. Go to http://www.aps...

Re: Re-reeving Jib Halyard
Tim & JD, Thanks for your helpful thoughts. The zip-tie is a genius idea! We sent a young man up in the bosun's chair and got the job done with a bit of fishing. Started with a length of parachute cord on which was strung a stack of steel (not stainless) nuts having outside diameter of about 3/8...

Re-reeving Jib Halyard
Hello, Our genoa halyard broke about 1 foot from the shackle ... after the finish of the race. The cover has been stripped (by a previous ownler) from the in-mast portion of the line. The last 2 feet of core at the shackle end are a litle thinner and fuzzier than the rest of the core. So, I have two...

I was considering only the forward end of the cockpit at the companionway bridgedeck I haven't sailed on a boat on which boat that it works well ... the traveller is awkward to use when racing (esp. if you want to pull it to windward of centerline), and when cruising the main sheet is in the way of...

I crewed on a 7.9 in the 2006 Islands Race (Lake Erie, out of Sandusky). Winds were southerly (offshore) and moderately puffy, at the upper range of the #1 with crew of 5. We had an invaluable short guy with big biceps playing the genoa from the windward rail and had great speed without a lot of kno...

I think you're supposed to top off the VC-17m with VC thinner, so you end up with a full quart. I suspect that has something to do with having a little spare space at the top of the can when you mix in the powder so it doesn't run all over the outside of the can when stirring ... or maybe it's more ...
