Quinn, That is not normal movement of the bulkhead that the starboard chain plate is mounted to; something has come loose. Recommend inspecting your hull in that area for delamination -- I am assuming the bulkhead is laminated on the inner layer of the hull. In fact, it might be worth investigating ...

I am replacing the stuffing box with the PSS Shaft seal so I thought I would replace the cutlass bearing while I was at it. Bob, I special ordered through West Marine. I ordered the standard speed unit for 3/4 inch shaft and 1 3/4 inch log. The part number #01034134 (note 01 for standard, 34 for 3/4 shaft, 134 for 1 3/4 Log). Be sure of your shaft and log dimensions. The unit is of the same length as the original stuffin...

I just bought a PSS Shaft seal. Will be installing soon, so no performance feed back yet. I was impressed enough with the item to spend the money. Will let you know as the season progresses.
