Cutlass bearing size

Does anyone know the cutlass bearing size offhand? I won't be able to get to the boat until the weekend. Thanks.

Marinas in or around Erie

OK. So I finally took a job in Pittsburgh. My boat is still in Connecticut and I'm looking to bring her out soon.

Can anyone recommend a good sailboat-friendly marina near the Erie, PA area? I think that will be my best and closest bet.

Thank you!

bilge drain in engine compartment

There's a removable plug that looks like a drain from the engine compartment into the bilge. Am I supposed to leave this drain open?

Re: How much do you use an autohelm ?

I use mine every time I go out. I have to motor down a river for a bit until I get to the Sound, and I use the ST-1000 to hold the tiller while I prep the boat. It's great because I can hold a heading into the wind while I put the sails up. Thinking of buying an ST-1000 or ST 2000 autohelm. :? How o...

I have an old Autohelm ST1000. It mounts on the aft topside. The plug is wired in the starboard lazarette. It's super easy to use and is very helpful to have. It's no frills, but it lets me keep a basic heading while I make a sandwich or whatever.

Absolutely! A good trimmer should be able to nail the jib/genoa trim during a tack without touching the winch. This can easily be done on a 7.9. It's not about strength. It's about timing. A winch is only as good as how many wraps of line is on it. The holding power is purely friction. If cleats are...

Sailing around Indianapolis

So I've got a job offer from Indianapolis. Anybody know anything about the sailing scene? I looked on line but didn't find a whole lot of info.

draft of rudder

Hi, Does anyone know offhand what the draft of the 7.9 is with board up and rudder down? I'm looking at a mooring for the season and they tell me that all they have available is one for a 4' draft. As a few have talked about already, I don't like the idea of cranking the board up a foot and leaving ...

Re: Yanmar Conversion

My boat had a Yanmar conversion prior to me purchasing it. The things I recall that looked different were as follows: The top of the rails that the engine bolted to were modified by planing the back to lower the rear motor mounts and blocks were added to the from to move the forward mounts forward....

Switching the BMW for a Yanmar

Hi, So I got my hands on a nice Yanmar 1gm and I'm going to swap out my troublesome BMW d7. If anyone has done this operation, please send me a note. This is going to be a big job and advice from people who've got experience with this would be a huge help. Also, if anyone with a 1gm or 1gm10 would b...

I've got a question. What's the performance difference between 2 and 4 strokes? I read an article where the author said that his two options were a 25HP 2-stroke or a 15HP 4-stroke. That's quite a rating difference for the same application!
