I replaced my standing rigging last year. Used Layline and received the new 5/16 tball. Called Layline and they said to grind out the sleave about one hundredth of an inch. Used my Dremmel for grinding.

You have at least 3 choices. Taylor Made 16 3/4 by 16/3/4, Lewmar Ocean 40 or Bomar Gray Low Profile 16 7/8 by 167/8. The orginal was made by Gray which is now Bomar low Profile. When I purchased my S2 7.9 back in 1997 one of the first things that I had to repair was the bulkhead. The plywood had rotted out around the chain plate. The bulkhead is held in place by fiberglass. Instead of using a fiddle block for four to one,use two Schaefer Utility blocks. Place them on each side of the rod, using two 1/4" bolts. The Schaefer utility block is 505-38 or 504-38. All the holes match up and all you need to do is replace the bolts. This is same block that S2 used.

Shafer Block 505-38

The replacement block that you need is the Shafer 505-38. This block has a 1/4 inch bolt that is removeable and fits the predrilled hole on the bar. If you want to go 4 to 1 then purchase two blocks and mount on both sides of the bar that comes out of the keel. You will need a 2 1/2 inch bolt to do ...
