Speed & Depth Electronics

Post by Stef »

I just purchased a S2 7.9 and although my topic isn't limited to this boat I would like to install a depthmeter and speedometer. There is a thru hull not being used and I have a sensor with a small impeller which evidently belongs in the hull fitting. 2 compasses on boat and one has lost all its fluid, so I figured I would replace this location with digital readouts of depth and speed. Any recommendations on brand and model number units?

There is another product from Tacktick called "Micronet" that I expect to see some more of on weight concious boats. It eliminates all the wiring and uses short range radio frequency communication in the form of 802.11b, the same class that wireless computer networks and routers use.

It makes life easier with no wires to run, and has the benefit of less weight (and won't corrode in salt water...)
