7.9 Trailer New or Used - Urgent Need

Post by gris-gris »

I just bought #480 in Chatanooga, TN.

I need to purchase a new or used trailer to bring her home to Alabama.

Please call me ASAP at 256-679-1943 or email at ronmatthews@knology.net if you can help me out.

Thanks
Ron

I bought a new trailer from Triad Trailers in Raleigh, NC (formerly in Conn). I'd measured a custom trailer owned by a fellow 7.9 sailor in Nashville as the basis.

I highly recommend Triad. Mike Orro will work with you to build exactly what you what. Now he has good measurements to use. We made a few adjustments after I got home, so the next trailer they make will be even better than mine.

I picked the trailer up at the factory and then drove to Chattanooga, TN for the boat (150 miles). At Privateer YC, I loaded the boat, lowered the mast and adjusted the trailer bunks to conform with the hull. No need for the tongue extension. Then drove the boat/trailer home to Madison, AL (100 miles). All the way towed by a 2008 V8 Trailblazer. No problems (except 10mpg).

My trailer has about all the possible features:

- dual axle disk brakes
- galvanized
- extra wide 76" frame
- adjustable bunk posts
- 10' extendable tongue
- PVC guide posts
- spare tire and carrier
- inner and outer bunks (estra long)
- extra long keel bunk
- bow bracket with winch, ladder and mast roller
- stern/pintle mount mast support witt roller

I won't tell you how all this cost. Suffice to say, I've practically doubled the value of my sailboat equipment.

Any questions? Give me a call/email. 256-679-1943.

Here's the info for Triad:

PS - If anyone has figured out boom, rudder storage, or outboard storage on the trailer let me know.

I saw a sailboat on a trailer that had the motor mounted on the winch post for transport.
