Determining boat age

We just purchased HIN# SSU79095M82G. We know it is hull number 095, but there is an issue with its date. The M82G is Feb 1982, but is that the manufacture date or the model year designation. If the latter how do we know the manufacture date? any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe someone with hull #'s close to ours would know. Thank you. We haven't sailed her yet but are so excited. We are on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Supposedly this was sailed on Lake Ontario, then sold to Florida, then to MS where we found her.

I have hull #146, it was also a 1982. I would suspect it is both, model year and manufactured year.
