S2 7.9 Emblem

Post by Scott Ross »

I'd like to acknowledge my crew for a great year by giving them jackets embroidered with the S2 7.9 emblem. I can find the emblem referenced in the Class Association rules but I'm unable to find and actual copy of the emblem. Any help? I assume Spike Boston or one of the sail makers must have a template as the emblem is required on class sails.

Thanks,
Scott Ross

I have a .jpg of the plan layout for the logo. I can send it to your e-mail, OK?

Scott, The logo we sailmakers have is identical to the one on your mainsail. You could trace that and reduce it in size. Sometimes a embroider or monogram company can download a logo and embroider it that way. Check with them

As I mentioned in the topic of "mast raising" I am the new owner of hull #146. The previous owner painted a new water line 2 years ago and I would like to replace the emblem on the water line. I have a friend with a vinyl cutting machine. Has anyone replaced there emblem with vinyl?

I also have a re-painted waterline but I haven't bothered yet to re-do it. It would be nice to have the original S2 7.9 logo painted back on though. I've always thought that I should be able to sand the new waterline stripe thin enough so the old logo shows through. Then you could make a pattern so you could mask off the logo when you re-paint (of course you could take the pattern off another boat with the original stripe while it's out of the water as well).

On another note when we were in Menominee for the CCR I noticed on Jessi Peterson's boat that he's had the "S2 Grand Slam" logo on the cabin top by the windows re-done (and they looked great!). The one on my boat looks really old and faded so I got the name of the company that made it from him. They mailed me some vinyl colour samples to select my color scheme and for about $36 total they sent me the logos that look just like the originals with the "S2"and the "Grand Slam" in colours that matched my boat (I also got a set for Frank Foote on Yawanna). I haven't put them on the boat yet but they should really make the boat look better. If anyone wants the name of the company email me at enns1@uwindsor.ca
I think only the first production of the boats had the "S2 Grand Slam" logo. The later boats only had the "S2" with a different design.

I am having the S2 7.9 emblem cut in vinyl for the water line. They will be 6 1/2" high and 21" long. I have ordered an extra set if anyone is interested. email off-post seeuwen@ptd.net
