Kind of a longshot...
When I first bought my 7.9 I kept an eye on yachtworld for similar boats. There was a 7.9 listed for about two years, which stated that the boat was located in French Polynesia. It was listed by a yacht broker in Mexico, where I guess the boat had been registered prior to crossing the equator.
I saved a copy of the listing as it had a lot of spiffy looking cruising mods. It carried the name 'Escape Velocity' and had sail number 151.
I guess the owners were never class members but figured that doing a big passage on a 7.9 must have been a hoot. I wonder if anybody has any idea who the owners were and what was involved in prepping the boat for passagemaking? I will venture to guess that it was/is the 'furthest from the Great Lakes' that a 7.9 has been?
Anybody know the story of Hull 151?
