S2 7.9 FK MH - whats does everything think?

Looking at a used 7.9 fix keel masthead rig version (with standard interior) I'm wondered what everyone thinks about this limited production version?

I have heard both good and bad, but it does rate faster than the standard 7.9 which leads me to believe it's a good boat. The standard 7.9 is just easlier to trailer and sail (being a fractional rig).

Thanks

If getting it on the trailer and transporting it are not an issue I would go for it.

8.0

There is a boat advertised on ebay that is listed as a 7.9 but the seller added a note that it is actually an 8.0. You may find the boat you are looking at is an 8.0 also.

The boat does not have a one design class and the resale will not be as strong as the 7.9 so make sure you get a good price. The boat on ebay may give you a good benchmark.

No, this is a 7.9. I seen that 8.0 on ebay too - pretty funny!

We ended up buying a standard version since we wanted to able to race one design at few events in our area. Otherwise, if I would have been only racing PHRF I would have bought it. Pretty cool boat, nice double spreader tapered mast!

SYCMCSA,
I am considering a change myself. The fixed keel and keel stepped masta make traveling a much bigger deal. But the boat seems to be a PHRF killer. We are planning to hit some bigger regattas next season (if I keep the boat) and I'll gat a better idea of how competitive it is.
