Below are tasks you will need to do upon your arrival, the schedule, and some of the rules pertaining to the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club. We would appreciate your discussing this list with your crew and invited guests;
-When you arrive at the Club let the crew move your boat to the end of the parking lot. Have them rig your boat while you go into the yacht club to register and get the needed forms from the Registration crew. Registration is on the East side of the Club. Make sure you have a copy of your insurance and a copy of your weight certificate.
-Have your crew make sure your boat is available for an equipment and weight check. Measurers will be wearing badges with their names. If your boat has not been weighed read the equipment list for items allowed and not allowed on the boat. 7.9's will be weighed Wednesday morning from 9:00AM till 1:00PM in the water near the cranes so you can launch after your equipment check. Make sure your backstay is off and the boom lowered as far as possible into the cockpit for weighing.
-Trailors are to be stored a half mile east of the Club at the “S†curve. A sign will show you where.
-Make sure you order your 2006 S-2 7.9 shirts as soon as you register.
-Each skipper will get a skippers bag with all the information they will need as well as tags for sail measuring, five 16 ounce coffee mugs, sponsored by 5th 3rd bank, as well as products from Harken, Eldean’s Ship Yard, Boeshield T-9, and West marine
-Leave your sails in the Junior Yacht club to be measured while you get your boat ready, check into your motel, and line up lunches. Sail measuring starts at 11:00AM Tuesday.
-Make sure you ask about places to buy lunches for your crew. If you order them from me a week ahead of time they will be $4.75 a piece and they will be delivered to the Club the morning of the race. “e†mail me if you want lunches delivered and I will “e†mail you back what is available.
-Get a dock or slip assignment or inquire about Eldean’s Shipyard next door. Their rate will be $34.00 a night.
-Meal tickets for Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday night will be in your skipper bag. ONE THING!!! I need to know a week ahead of time if you want to do the SOCIAL PACKAGE. Remember, it’s only $50.00 per boat. This includes the pig roast Saturday night. The last pig roast I went to cost me $40.00 per couple, so $50.00 for five guys for three dinners is a GREAT DEAL!!!!!!!!!!
-Ask about ice, liquor stores, places for your non-sailing members to go and visit or for spectator boats for viewing the racing and tell us what days they want to go.
-There will coffee available each morning at the Club.
Schedule;
-Tuesday 8/22 from 11:00AM till 6:00PM is registration and sail measuring. A keg will be under the tent at 5:00PM.The Club is not open on Tuesday.
-Wednesday, coffee will be available then measuring starts at 9:00AM till 6:00PM. WEIGHING of boats will take place from 9:00AM till 1:00PM ONLY! A practice race will take place at 4:00PM, (there is a “practice Race Trophyâ€) followed by a keg and a pizza party at around 6:30PM under the tent . Our Annual meeting will begin around 7:30PM.
-Thursday, coffee is again available. At 8:30AM we will have a skippers meeting. The first race is scheduled for10:30AM about two miles SW of the pier head. There will be a keg under the tent when we get back and then we will have a BBQ on the lawn.
-Friday, get coffee, then check the board at the Dockmasters office for any changes to our race instructions. The first race is scheduled for 10:30AM. Kegs after the races, then a free evening for all to find places to eat in and around Holland. A list will be available at Registration.
-Saturday, Coffee, check the Dockmasters office for any race changes, 2-3 races, kegs, a pig roast at 6:00PM and the awards at 7:30PM.
House Rules :
*All club and bar use shall conform to the dictates of the Michigan Liquor Control Commission and Ottawa County Health Dept. rules and regulations. The bar is not open Monday or Tuesday night, but a keg will be available Tuesday night.
*The club provides excellent shower facilities and these will be available to all 7.9 sailors and families. There is also a pop machine and ice machine available next to the General Managers office. The pool is open to visiting family members from 11:00AM-7:00PM and Children under 12 shall not be allowed in the club after10:00PM and people under 18 will not be allowed in the bar area after 5:00PM.
*Bringing of intoxicating liquors into the Clubhouse is prohibited and those buying a drink and taking it out on the lawn should ask the bartender for plastic cups.
*Shoes and shirts are required in the Clubhouse at all times. And no pets are allowed in the Club.
Misc------FOOD! Try the MBYC,on Friday night our menu includes sandwiches as well as full dinner selections. There is also a pool grill which is open from 11:00AM-7:00PM. Other suggestions for those who arrive early are; the Sandpiper Restaurant, which is a block west of the Club. You will probably need reservations for dinner. The Parkway Inn is a casual restaurant about 2 miles east of the club on South Shore Dr.. There are several restaurants in Holland, on Rt 131 and in Saugatuck, a quaint resort village 8 miles to the south. For sandwiches there is "Wierzma’s Central Park Grocery" about 3 miles east of the club on South Shore Dr. For alcholic beverages you'll have to go east on South Shore Dr. and turn right at the Parkway Inn and go one block to “The Storeâ€.
