#267 is back on the water after a complete refit and restoration. She was a Katrina victim that lost her mast and had some minor cosmetic damage. Structurally she was sound, dry hull and mostly dry deck, minor core work on the deck under some fittings. New paint, new mast from JSI, and new interior. We gutted the interior and installed new bulkheads and liner.
She proved to be fast. Winning our first regatta with 4 races and 4 bullets in our 12 boat fleet. Our 1st sail was the 1st race! Ironically the SYC regatta was the same date that marked the 5th anniversary of Katrina. So it felt good to get her back where she belongs, sailing! Our new sails did not arrive in time for the Regatta (Oct delivery) but the old rags worked for the weekend.
In one photo we are nipping at the heals of an Olson 40 during the Sunday 20-mile long distance race. We are 13 miles into the race. We finished 7 minutes behind the Olson 40 (he had to give us 42 minutes!) and 28 minutes ahead of the next boat. Whoo Hoo!
