The website has an announcement about the SE Series taking place over the next 6 weeks or so-- I would just add some details to that announcement:
1. the dates will be: Carlyle-Whale of a Sail Sept. 17-18; Greer's Ferry Regatta Oct. 8-9; and Nashville Equalizer Oct. 22-23.
2. the contacts for the regattas are on the S2 website, and there will be plenty of local motels/hotels, help rigging/splashing your boat, good parties at each venue, but unfortunately the host fleets for each event have taken a vow of sobriety until the conclusion of the series. Not.
3. all S2's are welcome for any or all of the regattas, although for this year, at least, we have decided to require boats to sail all 3 regattas to qualify for the series. However, each regatta will also be scored (with awards) as an individual event, each event will have at least 5 races over two days (weather cooperating, of course), so it will be fun and good competition even if you can only make one or two events. We'd love to have you for all 3, but want you for any that you can make. Except Relentless, of course, which came down and stole our silver last year. We have the Tennesee Highway Patrol on alert to stop them at the border and, at least, confiscate their so-called music.
C'mon down-- we're gonna have fun, and so will you.
Southern Equalizer Series

Nashville Equalizer, Oct. 22-23
OK, the first leg of the Southern Series was great: 8 boats, close racing (4 races over 2 days), good party, etc. The S2 class was won by the Burgetts on Mizar, with Doc Latour and the Itch gang close behind, and Garry Roberts' Danger Zone in third. A good time was had by all, except for Smitty on Gargle Blaster, who took a boom to the noggin in the last race, and we're all still keeping tabs on him (he claims he's OK, but that's what he said before the regatta...). A big thanks to the Carlyle Sailing Assoc., and to the Carlyle S2 fleet (especially the Burgetts and the Smittys, a/k/a "sons of Charles Manson")
Next stop is Greer's Ferry, Arkansas, on October 8-9, and then the Nashville Equalizer on Oct. 22-23. Remember, even if you don't make all the stops on the Southern Series, the individual regattas will award their own trophies, and the competition at each venue looks to be fierce.
As one of the folks helping Dr. Latour make sure the Nashville event is a good one, lemme urge you to give a thought to coming down. We have scheduled 6 races on Saturday/Sunday, and if we get typical Music City weather we'll get 'em in. Consider this: as of now, we expect 12 boats, including Frequent Flyer, Hunting Party, Relentless (a/k/a Resented), Mizar, Danger Zone, 5 local boats, and more. We have an excellent/experienced RC lined up, great shoreside events, and it will be a gas. We want to build this event into your last stop before putting up the boat for the winter. Give us a try.
By the way, I was contacted by the Racine YC folks, who will be sending me a CD of the CCR photos soon (high resolution), and my offer to burn a copy for anyone who would like one still stands. As of now, I have requests from Spierling, Etheridge, Leyland and Elliott. Other folks please let me know.

Nashville Equalizer 10/21-22
OK, OK-- last pitch for the Nashville Equalizer, racing on Sat-Sun October 21-22. The lineup now looks like 13 boats (5 local, 3 Ontario/Michigan, 3 Illinois, 2 Arkansas) and maybe a surprise visitor from Annapolis to make 14. If you join us, it will be that much better. We expect to do 6 races over 2 days, and have a good time shoreside. (and, for you hockey pucks, don't forget the Predators are in town on Thursday night, 10/20, and Sat. 10/22-- I think tickets are available).

Nashville Equalizer Oct. 22-23
Why do I keep screwing up the dates on this event? (no reply needed). Of course, the racing is Sat-Sun 10/22-23. On Friday night, 10/21, there will be a terrific party at Dr. Paul's house for the S2 fleet, complete with a live rock band (led by some guy named Mick?), dancing girls, and French champagne (OK, so I lied, but there will be lots of food and drink, along with lots of sailors telling tall tales).
