2008 Detroit NOOD Regatta.

Post by John Spierling »

Starting a post in May did not spur any interest in the Detroit NOOD, so I will try 8 months earlier. Is any one interested in doing Detroit NOOD in 2008??????????? There has to be at least 20 Slams in a one hour radius of Detroit. The parties at Bayview don't get any better, and the racing was good even though it was cut short by light wind and then thunderstorms. Can I shame enough Slam owners to get a class at Detroit again, or should I just let it die????[/u]

lets just say I know some sailors that want to use me for my one design, amd I'm OK with that! two of them have an Antrim 27 but would rather race NOODs on my barge

I would be willing to take Hunting Party to Detroit but there are some conditions.
Bob will not sail on Lake St. Stupid so, I, would have to helm. Scarry, but intrigueing. How do you really spell that?THAT!
I will have to find crew, I will work on that.
Where is the best place to launch and keep the boat so we don't have to travel 9 nm to the course.
And will Lee from Port Huron be at the BYC to pull me out of the drink again?

I've got a commitment from Dave Grover to do it on Prime Time, with my wife and I crewing for him. With enough notice, we could try to get some boats into CSYC for the regatta. The course is about 2.5 to 3 miles from there.

I believe my shaming is working!!
If my math is any good, I believe we have commitments from 5, and possible 7. Committed: Rebel, Instigator, Majic, Killer Leprachaun, and Prime Time. On the fence: Hunting Party and Grand Illusion. How about it, anybody else interested????

maybe..., now that the state has pushed the school year back a week, and graduation is later than before, and if I can get my crew to move the boat while I'm at work, possible, just maybe possible.

I hope we're going to have more than 5 boats on the line! Who else has scheduled this regatta? There are several boats in MI and this regatta is at your doorstep. Come on down and to have some fun and sail! ~ Jeff

Gi,

I'm prepared to DD Mau on down to race the NOOD in 08, and, I'.. put the full court press on Vanquish, out of North Star Sail Club.

BTW, If ya'all think it worth exploring, North Star might be willing to host it. They are in process of adding a small boat hoist this summer. I think we could definitely arrange for docks, depending on the date, plus, ramp launching is great at the end of South River Rd, about 5 minutes up the river.

Let me know if I should further explore this.
