Weight Certificates
Does any one know the location of the class scale? I was talking with Spike last week about weighing before the CCR, and trying to find the class scale and figure out how we could get our weight certified before the regatta. I know many of the boat's weight certificates expire this year and would like to get this task done and out of the way before Nashville. I don't know what the plans are for a crane in Nashville, but we have a crane at Sarnia (the place that most of the boats were last weighed in 2004) and Spike and I would like to do this in Sarnia. Who do we need to get to certify weights. I weighed many of the boats in 2004, the last year that boats had to get weighed annually, and the rule was changed to a 3 year certificate. Does a current class officer have to witness the weighing?? Or can any member validate the weight, or would two members witness and verify the weighing be sufficient. Please let me know what can be done. Thanks.

Regattas and Events
Jeff, S2 7.9 sailors are strong silent types. There will be plenty of boats heading to Nashville. Look for 25 plus on the starting line.

Frequent Flyer will be there for both regattas. Looking forward to a good time in Nashville.
Hey guys, last night I had a chat with the guy who runs Yachtscoring.com. For $500 we could have all the boats we have signed up on the web for all to see and real time scoring for all the 7.9 folks that can't make the regatta. If we act now this would be on the web by Monday.
Not only would this benefit all the folks that can't make the regatta but many sailors look at yachtscoring and would see the 7.9 logo and would see that the class is alive and well.
Just a suggestion, but it would get the 7.9 on a really cool website.
See you all at the CCR.

To "emouland"-
I think the idea of having daily preliminary and final race results posted on the CCR website is a must! In addition to results, I think an on-the-water recap would be nice as well for those who were unable to attend. This all can be done via the host's CCR website or our class website (saves the class $500) but volunteers are essential to make this work. I'll contact Paul to discuss these options.
I will volunteer to post daily on-the-water reviews, dock interviews and
pictures.
I'm looking forward to a good time in Nashville!
Take care-

Although I am unable to attend the CCR, I would be happy to publish results. I would need an on-site source for result reports, I have the scoring tools and publishing ability. e-mail me for further discussions.

thanks,
Jeff,
No, getting anyone excited about our class will never happen on this website. We are a smaller and smaller group. We need the exposure that yachtscoring.com can bring us. We have had this website for years and we get less and less racers every year.
We need national attention. Again, I am not an owner and I have no say but this is something I truly think we need. $500 bucks for the class is cheap to get our class needs to get us recognition.

I agree with Jeff concerning spending 500.00 for Yacht scoring.
If we utilize information sites such as Sailing Anarachy and Scuttlebutt we can get attention. But it would take somebody to be on top of getting our class more exposure.
With todays ease of information we need somebody with the communication and computer skills to effectively get our message out.

Ed- I fully agree that our class needs more national attention and this kind of tool would be very beneficial considering the number of hits this site attracts. The ideas expressed in my previous post were based on the fact that the CCR is less than a month away and I don't have any knowledge of the Class budget #'s. Definitely worth looking into for next year's regatta's.
