I am happy to report a successful conclusion to the 4th Annual Geico Cup (formerly Alexandria Mayor's Cup) run June 12 & 13 by the Daingerfield Island Sailing Club (http://www.discsailing.org) out of the Washington Sailing Marina. The Spin Class winner was Dale Eager's S2 7.9 Coup de Vent. (Note the fine trophy being presented to Dale and crew.)
For the S2s that can't make it to the Annapolis NOOD, we offer an alternate East Coast experience. Perhaps not quite as exciting as the Bay in May but the docking is free and we are in sight of the DC monuments. Plus it is a CBYRA sanctioned event. DISC has four 7.9s and several other S2s. The fleet is mostly MORC boats rating 168 to 181 so its a pretty tight PHRF class. Consider this in 2011 for an excuse to visit DC in June (the best time to be here) and get in some great river racing. For Information, email us at comments@discsailing.org.
