PHYC offshore 100
should be the last weekend of June or the first weekend of July 2007. I know it's a little early, but in Michigan it's all we can look forward to! A couple of my friends are members and a friend of theirs is the regatta chairman, he's looking for bigger turn outs, so lets make it happen, as the 7.9's are a highly mobile class, I'm going to be storing my boat in the general area and sailing the unofficial Mackinaw race 2 weeks from then, (shore course, not Southampton)[/b]

The Lake Huron International Regatta actually is two races;
The Port Huron 100, a 100 mile triangle across lower Lake Huron, and the John Blunt Memorial, a shorter 70 mile triangle race for the smaller/slower boats. Both races are run together, same start, same finish, sponsered by Port Huron Yacht Club, and Sarnia Yacht Club respectivley. Start is Friday evening, finish sometime on Saturday.
It's an excellent race, and a great warm up for the Mac races.
The Bayview/Port Huron to Mackinac is one of yachtings premier events. There are two courses for different classes of boats; the longer Southampton course (about 270 miles iirc) takes boats across the lake to a mark set near Southampton Ontario, then left up the middle of the lake to Mackinac. The shore course is shorter (205 miles or so) and follows Michigan's Lake shore direct to the Island. The S2 7.9 is the smallest boat permitted in the race, and a few have done it in the past.

Grand Illusion-- consider racing in the 2007 S2 Canadian Championships (tenative dates June 29- July 1) in Sarnia. In 2006, we had 6 boats on the line and got 11 races in 3 days. Racing on Friday starts at 1pm and we are off the water by 1pm on Sunday. Great regatta, great tune up for the CCR. There were only 2 classes on the race course, the 7.9's and 15 U 20's. We hope to increase participation in the 7.9 class for 2007 at the event. If you consider travelling, St. Pete NOOD is Feb 16 -19, it is by far the best run NOOD regatta and best venue (my personnal opinion), and generally draws between 10 - 15 boats. Lake Norman Mid-Winter Regatta is in mid-March, last year we had 6 boats, and they will let us drop our boats at the LNYC after St. Pete (hope to get more boats interested for 2007). Annapolis NOOD is April 27 -29, and usually draws between 15 - 20 boats. Detroit NOOD is June 1-3 and Chicago NOOD is June 15-17 (usually draws about 15 boats). Hope to see you on the road!!

BerryE good to know, I read that the minimum length for the Mac was 26 feet and didn't know if they'd let the inch that our 7.9's are shy slide or not. I'd like to officially participate in the future, but I'v heard that there's a TON of boat prep, and $$ to be spent on all the required safety equipment, even though you can rent a life raft (about $500)

The date has been set for the LHIR.
Friday, July 6 and Sat July 7 if anyone is interested. Port Huron Yacht Club web site will have info available sometime in January.
Also; the weekend prior, June 29-July 1, is the tentative date for the S2 7.9 Canadians, if this date firms up, you could leave your boat, and do the LHIR the next week.
