Hello all
Thanks to everyone for being patient as we worked out the details of the 2008 Class Championship. Please know that members' feedback, on this forum and elsewhere, was paramount in the decisions. As always, the best interests of all S2 7.9 members was at the heart of the debate.

So....

You are cordially invited to a GREAT regatta

The 2008 S2 7.9 Class Championship Regatta
Wednesday, October 22 through Saturday, October 25 2008
J. Percy Priest Lake
Nashville TN

Sponsored and Produced by The Percy Priest Yacht Club

As a convenience for S2 sailors, and to provide another sailing opportunity, PPYC has moved its very successful Equalizer Regatta to the weekend of 10/18 - 10/19. If you're looking for a chance to scope out the venue and practice your inland lake skills, here it is!

PPYC, plus our very own Paul Latour & James O'Dell have run terrific regattas. It's a very good venue for the 7.9. We look forward to seeing you there.

For those coming from north of the Mason Dixon Line: (a) Graceland is in Memphis. (b) Dollywood is in Knoxville. Please do not ask for directions. (c) Additionally we strongly suggest that you decline any locals who offer you a 'pull' from a clear liquid in a mason jar. This is especially important if you need to be at work the following day / week, or if you have reasonable access to fireworks, firearms, heavy machinery, or explosives of any type. Remember that, for males, the second-most commonly uttered phrase which immediately precedes a grim death is "No really, this will be SO cool."

We have a decision!! See y'all in Nashville.

Don't Forget St. Pete NOOD in February, and of course Detroit in June, we need more boats at both of these regattas.

Perfect!

Our last club fall series race is the weekend before, just pull the boat for the season, head south to do one more regatta! Not to mention no schedule conflicts with other northern summer series and regattas!

The people are very nice in that area. We had a fuel pump go out just north of Nashville while pulling our 7.9 back to Iowa from Alabama last year, everyone was friendly and nothing but true southern hospitality! It was after 6pm and the mechanic opened back up and worked late night lifting the truck bed and getting the new pump installed so we could back on the road in the morning.

Thanks to the PPYC for hosting the event next summer. One question, doesn't the CCR rules say the event will be held between July 1 and September 30?

hello my friend;
You are correct rule #3A6.1 does reads that way , I was looking at the rules just this week.If you look a little bit further the last sentence says something to the effect that,THE GOVERNING COMMITTEE MAY APPROVE ALTERNATE DATES.

Our president and the board in my belief have allllllll of the fleet's best interests in HEART!
Heck ,the pres. has owned how many 7.9's.Exactly how many is it Tom?
Chimo;
Guts.

:arrow: :arrow: Hey Mark. Um, yeah, I've owned a few of these things. The class rules now stipulate that I have to wear admiral's scrambled eggs, epaulets and one of those oh-so-good-looking nordic captain's hats across the start and finish lines as punishment. :)) Gotta love it. Nashville is going to be great. And we did approve the dates.
