Guys,
I have owned the S2 7.9 DD Mau for 10 years and just ordered a new genoa. I gave them my old genny and they made the new one, and gave it the same number as the old - #483. Then a good fellow sailor at the club took some pictures of my boat and, in looking at them, I am astounded to find that the sail number on the main is #438. Good Grief, which one is the right number? How do I determine what my sail number is supposed to be?
Help!

DD Mau (#438 or #483)

Check your title. It will have your hull number as part of the VIN.

It will also be molded in the transom, try upper starboard corner, it will be an eleven character number starting out with SSU79. The next three digits are the hull number, then the 10th and 11th digits will be the year that it was built.

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate it. Especially breaking down the hull numbers on the boat.

Guys,
Just to share the actual number from the hull - it is SSU79483L586.
Just a little remaining question- any ideal what the L5 means? I know the boat was built in 86, and I now know the correct sail number is 483.
