Original Backstay Replacement
I am looking to order a full kit replacement for the original metal pinch style backstay. I see a lot of folks have upgraded to a backstay configuration with a 8:1 block, a masthead kicker, and lighter stronger dynema. Looking for someone who offers the full kit upgrade. Thanks!
Re: Original Backstay Replacement
I made that change, but did the work myself including buying components.
Only issue I can think of is to be sure to get a strong batten for the kicker - carbon if you can get it.
A 7.9 in our club (not mine) had a kicker break

Re: Original Backstay Replacement
For a full kit, I'd give Marc Crutcher at Unbridled Sailing a call.
I had a bunch of work done on my boat a few years ago, the guy who did it all leaned on Marc for the backstay (and some info on the centerboard I think). He knows the boats really well.

To give some maybe helpful information . .
Why change the backstay ?
The original system is both heavy and hangs up on the mainsail, always at the worst possible time.
