cleaning carpet inside cabin

Post by Wineduptoy »

Just bought a 82 model with a lot of stains inside on the hull liner. Any ideas on how to clean(if even possible) what about a rug doctor type steam cleaner? Help would be appreciated.

Several years ago, I was selling my 1984 S2 6.9 (above the waterline and its entire cabin look like a 7/8ths scale 7.9 and it uses the same carpet hull liner). Its carpet liner was dirty and stained in many places; some were rust stains. The berth cushions were stained also but I had them reupholstered.

In Topeka, KS (my home), we have an excellent cleaning service that also specializes in restoration after fire and water damage. I trailered my boat there and left it. I dropped in to look occasionally and saw the worker use several different cleaning agents on some of the stains depending on their type.

It cost me a little over $100 to have the hull liner cleaned and it took almost all of one day. But it was well worth it -- it came out looking brand new.

That's something to consider.

I just recently cleaned mine using my household Bissel Heated Carpet Cleaner, using the standard bissel carpet cleaning solution. My carpet clean has a hand attachment and I used that throughout the inside. It got rid of the majority of the dirt and mildew and I'm very happy with the appearance now.

Hello,

Has anyone ever hired professional carpet cleaners for the interior carpet of their office????? I do not have any major stains but can tell a difference in color when I remove the runners in the high traffic areas, So, I thought that a professional carpet cleaner with a hot water extractor may do a trick...

Another reason to keep the interior carpeting, which was persuasive to me . .

is that it seems to deaden sound and keep noise levels low.
