Centerboard Trunk Cover(s)

Post by Stef »

The locking pin on my board wouldn't come up far enough to install a pin. I removed the rear cover, it was made of plastic! Having some trouble with the forward one, seems someone added an additional 4 screws, this one is made of 1/4" aluminum.
What is this correct material for these covers? I think stainless steel would be better.

We cracked our origial cover 2 years ago. I replaced it with Lexan. I ordered a piece big enough for both pieces and used the table saw to cut it to size. I used a belt sander to radius the corners. I got a dark smokey color and you can just see the keel through it. That is handy to check to see where it is once in a while. I just found a plastics dealer on the web. It wasn't to hard. Lexan is easy to find.

Hope that helps.

Our OEM covers on Hot Tamale are both a dark smoked plastic, I think it is Lexan, but not sure.
We are modifying the forward cover this year by mounting 2 cup holders (OK, beer can holders) in it. No water issues since it is on the trunk!
