Rudder pinion/gudgeon bushings

Post by Tigerlily »

What is the current thought concerning the rudder gudgeon bushings?
Am I correct understanding that S2 (Tiara) no longer has a stock of the (Delrin?) Bushings?

I am currently using a jury rigged two piece set up that I concocted from some trailer bushings. I am securing it in place with cotter pins so that the bushing doesn't rice up the pinion shaft. I am using a delrin washer at the bottom so that there is no metal to metal contact. It seems to work well but I am wondering if there are alternatives.

Thoughts please.

Most gasket fabrication companies can turn a pair of bushings to the exact dimensions.

Steve Brachman has some. Shoot me an email and I'll send you his phone number if you wish. (Not a good idea to post his number without his permission.)
Best wishes,
