Tiller style preference
I am replacing our tiller handle. The one we have now is straight. Do most people prefer a rise in the tiller handle? If so how much and for what length? What are the advantages of having a rise?
Thanks
Thanks

We broke ours last summer and got an off-the-shelf laminated one from Boats-r US. It has a rise and we like it. We did have to make some teak shims for the sides because it was too narrow. A little 5200, some sanding to shape and some varnish . . .
It looks great and is more comfortable (my opinion) when sitting in the cockpit at the helm.

I can't tell if the tiller that came with the boat was original - but it is broken at the tiller extension joint and I will have to order another. Is the tiller length of 52 1/2 inches correct?
tillers tillers and more tillers
H & L Tillers manufacture wood tillers from mahogany and ash to your specs. If you do a google search you can find them or go to pyacht.com, for more information. You will have to provide the tiller dimensions so each one is custom made and you can get a slight rise instead of a straight stick - will probably order it this week. Pricing is from 60 - 100 dollars.
