Stainless Steel Rudder "Hold up"
I have lost that stainless steel hook that holds up the rudder for pulling the 7.9. I discovered how handy it would be last year when I anchored at a cottage in about 4 feet of water, but had to hold the rudder up for wave action. Does anyone have a measured drawing of the hook, or possibly one they would sell me? Any other ideas or inventions on how to temporatily hold up the rudder blade? I sail out of North Star Sail Club on Lake St Clair in Michigan.
Stainless steel rudder hold up device
I have a friend who has this device on her boat. She has agreed to let me borrow it and have one duplicated at a stainless fabricator. I like the device because it keeps the rudder from bouncing around as it does with a line, bullet block device (which works okay, I just don't like the bounce.
I have also taken a picture of the device which I can email you directly if you wish.

I haven't forgotten Y'all.
I have been on Katrina duty at the Hancock county EOC in Bay St. Louis running an emergency radio broadcast station all of Sept. I am just now catching back up on life at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.
I will try to get together with the boat owner with the SS device to get permission to remove it and have it duplicated and photographed. We had spoken briefly before I left for BSL and I should get permission again now that it is months later.

Would you send me a photo of the rudder support as well. I am new to the boat and think that I have one, but I'm not sure how it is secured. My address is jbrinkman15@comcast.net. Many thanks..

Re: Stainless steel rudder hold up device
Maybe you could post the photo here so we can all see it. It sounds better than the sling method we use.Tigerlily wrote:I have a friend who has this device on her boat.
