Forestay Length

I measured my forestay, it's 31' 4" pin to pin. I checked the connection at the bow and the stainless steel strip coming up from the bow has another piece extending it another 1 1/2" and the hole mount is then rotated 90 degrees. This little "extension" is bolted, the forestay attaches to this with the standard pin. Is this part of the rigging or an add on?

It's just an additional toggle. Perfectly legal.

Your forestay is actually too short. Maximum allowable pin to pin is 31' 8". You're at 31' 5 1/2". I'd get a longer extension. The boat sails better with maximum rake.
