Does anyone know what the spreader rake is for the 7.9?

I recall seeing info regarding spreaders on the old posts.
You might want to scan those at:

thanks for the info! the site was very useful! my spreader moves about two inches when I push or pull the outer shroud. The boat yard rigger said its O.K. to sail? Now I'm having second thoughs, who's right?

Spreader move

You are right.
Be sure to take the spreaders off and check the welds on the bracket.
Best wishes,

Spreader rake

The Offshore Spars spec for these is 15 degrees aft and 5 degrees up.

Check the welds at the base of the tangs the spreaders go on often. They often crack. Since they are under compression, they are not likely to fail, but can let the rake change too much.

After raising the mast, I check the upward angles by sighting from well aft of the boat to see that they are the same on both sides. If you do this, line up the backstay with the mast as you sight so that the angle of viewing does not mislead you. A couple pokes or pulls with the spinnaker pole will get them where you want them.
