Spring Starters for IB motors

Post by Coldduck »

Has anyone installed a spring starter on a Yanmar 1GM10? I run the motor so infrequently it is hard to keep the battery charged. Kineteco International Ltd will be releasing a spring starter for my motor later this year and wanted to see if anyone knows of any alternate sources.

Having once (and only once) tried to start my Yanmar by hand, I would be interested in more information on a "spring" starter.

I have not successfully started my Yanmar by hand, however I did have a situation where my batteries ran down so far the engine wouldn't turn over but there was enough power in the batteries to turn the engine over as long as a 2nd person lifted the decompression lever. Once it's cranking, it will likely start when you drop the lever. (Most of you probably know this; however, at the time I did not.)
