Rudder Hold-up Device

I used a wooden dowel for my first two years with Zafu, thanks to you guys. Early this spring, however, there was a pretty big storm on the lake, so I moved the boat out from the dock to a mooring. Just from wind and water, the dowel broke. The rudder kicked up and started banging against the outboard prop, which had slipped down a notch. By the time the storm ended the next morning, there was a chunk out of the rudder that looked like a great white shark bite. I have gone back to the pin.
