Impeller on knot meter - replacement

Post by tburke »

The impeller on my knot meter is broken and needs to be replaced. I assume the problem is only the impeller and not the whole transducer. Can any one tell me where to find an impeller for the Mariner Model DKT-5 knot meter. The model number for the transducer is TR-1 or TR-5. I found this information in the materials which came with the boat. Would West Marine have a replacement impeller which would be compatible with this unit?

Thanks for your help with this.

Call SR Instruments in Tonawanda, New York. They are very helpful.

I contacted SR Marine and obtained a new impeller and pin for the knotmeter. If you need any help with your knotmeter or depthsounder and it is made by SR Marine, these people are the ones to contact. Their website at www.srinstruments.com has telephone number and other information on their instruments.

I am having some problems with my knotmeter sensor. It may have been damaged in launch, I should have put the dummy plug in but didn't. It works most of the time but the reading is about 60% of what I think it should be. It's also fickel, sometimes it works other times not. This has been since I launched it, so it's not slim. It's a 2 wire sensor and I can't find any markings on it. I am using a 4" dail Smiths 1-10kt.
