Hi all,
I found some suggestions for swim ladders in older threads, but thought it might be good to start more up-to-date thread. Anyone installed a swim ladder in past couple years? Any suggestions for a permanent swim ladder that's sturdy, long enough, and hopefully light weight and will stay out of the way? When we're not racing, we like to anchor out, fish and swim. The removable plastic ladder I have now is a pain to use and isn't quite long enough.
I found some options at west marine and online ... but curious if someone on here has a swim ladder they really love (if that's even possible?!).

Suggest Catalina 22 ladder $283, link below

Works great if you have a stern rail.

We are looking for a permanent one for Hot Tamale. This is top pick so far:

Re: swim ladders
Tim,
I think that one is spot on and if my boat didn't already have one, it is what i would pick. Mine only has the single rung that goes into the water and it makes it a little challenging to get one's self up.

Re: swim ladders
The original ladder, was too short, it was almost impossible to use. I removed it and mounted a "Divers" ladder. Bracket about 6" square is on the transom and the ladder snaps in when you need it. I store the ladder in a cockpit locker. It just fits. Also, I can use when the boat is on the trailer to climb up. I got the 4 rung model, it hangs down to knee level when your treading water.

Re: swim ladders
Thanks for the suggestions. I went with the Catalina 22 ladder and installed it this weekend. It looks like it's going to work really well, excited to try it out this summer, I'll try to post pics when I have more time.

You might think about putting a cable on your later with a latching hook on it.
Snap the hook on something before putting the ladder on the transom. Mine is detachable, assuming yours is?
I have one on my ladder and the rudder lift hook; pretty much anything that is is expensive, doesn't float and
is used outside the lifelines.
