My spreaders have some up and down play, but not fore and aft. I also have the spreader pushed up a bit as per Boston tuning guide. I found the clamp on the spreader really didn't hold to the shroud snug, so I added a little sailtape around the shroud and then clamped it, works fine. I suspect that's why they added the 2 clamps on yours.

I got 15 degrees for the spreader angle from JSI last summer.
