Lexan Window Replacement, Thickness?

Post by sycmcsa »

I need to replace my windows, I read here on the site they are bronze tinted Lexan but do not give the thickness. I would like to order the Lexan and make new ones BEFORE removing the old ones. Anyone know with the thickness is needed?

Thanks!

No matter what the original was I wouldn't use anything less than 5/16".

Hello Jamie,

What thickness did you end up pulling out of your boat?
How did the project go?
I'm going to tackle this job this fall.

Thank you,

Pusc a straight in through existing silicon to determine depth. That'll give you thickness.
There was an S2 document on this website at one time with good info to do this job.

See "S2 Referral Guide" under "Rules and Docs".
Top of website main page.

I read thru it and didn't see anything about thickness.
If someone knows the thickness they used, I would appreciate the info.

Thanks,
Sam

Push a straight pin from the outside through the silicon seal til you hit bottom. The depth of penetration will give you the thickness. You will not compromise the seal.
The folks at "Unbridled Sailing" might help. They have done work on some 7.9s.
