After pulling out a wad of straw and mud from Runaway's boom, (about three birds nests) I noticed the reefing line shieves were pretty worn coming out of the forward end of the boom.
Has anyone replaced these and where might I find a likely source?
The cam cleats look like original schaefer hardware.
Thanks and happy 4th!

reefing line gooseneck hardware
OK, so there are no suggestions on replacing these little shieves attached to the gooseneck, so what's next?
It seems that perhaps a better solution could be to scrap the schaefer setup and install a cheek block, then lead the reef line to the mast plate and then back to a winch. Reefing can be done from the cockpit with the exception of attaching the new reef tack to the boom.
We did this years ago on Cal 25's and it worked out great.
Has anyone done this?

At the front of my boom, near the gooseneck, the reefing lines pass through roller fairleads, that are part of a Schaefer cam cleat assembly.
There is one on either side, mounted on common hardware. The same cam cleat, roller fairlead assemblies were also used on the deck, near the toe rail outside of the cockpit to direct the tweeker lines from the rail to the cockpit.
I don't believe that Schaefer makes that particular assembly any more, but I'm hoping that they will service them, my rollers (sheaves?) are long gone, having been worn down to just fragments.
Are these the sheaves you're talking about?

I just had the same thing happen on the outhaul. Seems they utilize the same 2 screws on both sides of the boom flange. Couldn't find the sheaves anywhere so I made new ones all around out of Delrin.
For the reef line and outhaul you may be able to switch the sheaves around since the forward ones aren't really used.

custom sheaves
Seems like no one has been able to find replacements for the little sheaves on the Schaefer cleat assemblies. I could use 4-8 of them myself (tweakers, reef line & outhaul).
Stef, you do such a good job with rudder parts, could we talk you into manufacturing some of these sheaves for the class?
