To Mr. Badger - Board question

I could not get the PM thingy to work - so I'm answering a question from "Badger" here . .


Dear Badger (WI?) -
Can't really say that anyone is THE expert - a bunch of us have done it more than a few times. Not much to it really, it weighs 600 lbs so you probably need a marina crane. Pull it straight up - AND have 5 or 6 putty knives handy so the board does not hang up on the trim as it comes out (you'll see what I mean when you do it).
Just be sure to go VERY SLOWLY as the board nears the top of the trunk, and tab the trim behind the delrin (sp?) bushings on the sides & front/back of the board. Don't lose those, or change their position - they are what makes the board seat properly in the trunk. If they are out of position, the board can be difficult to raise/lower.
Last time I had mine out i hung it from a chain fall to work on it - very handy to spin, tilt, lay it down, etc..

Skip's got it, there. We used a cherry picker-manlift next to the barn to haul out Blackbeard's board.

Forklift with extended blade. Out in 20 minutes, that includes unbolting everything.

I have used a fork lift twice. Works well but not much clearance and I nicked the deck (I need a taller lift obviously). This year I pulled it with the small boat hoist at the club (while in the water). Worked slick. Out, cleaned, painted and back in...2 hours.
