Shroud Replacement

Post by Tom Olsen »

I have a 1982 (hull #76) 7.9. One of my uppers kinked at the spreader about 6 years ago and upon pulling the boat this year I discovered one of the SS strands broke. Does anyone carry these pre-made or do I have to order custom?

I'm pretty sure you'll have to order one. The spec is 30 feet 10.75 inches pin to pin with turnbuckle 2/3s extended. Top fitting is a #6 T-ball, but for my boat I had to specify the "old style" T-ball.

Might be easiest just to send the rigging shop your old stay.

Hope that helps.

Hey There

We can do it here at the loft. Just send them to me and I can match them, I just need to know the style of turnbuckle you use as well.

Lowers and Backstay

Post by Tac Boston »

Hey There

So as many of you know sometimes I open my mouth before I should ;)

I need to get the lengths for the lowers and the three legs for the backstay in order to price the standing rigging out.

Does anyone have easy access to thier lowers and backstay? If so please measure and let me know.
Cheers,
Tac

My copy of the original owners manual gives these "cut-off lengths":

bacsktay 28'3"
backstay bridle 94 5/8"

lower shroud 14' 9"

Hope that helps.

I bought a full set from Offshore Spars last year.
They had all of the specs on them.
They were fast and they look great.
I did specify the headstay being at the class max though.
Their number is 586-598-4700.
