BMW D7 Fuel Tank Plumbing

Post by Bullseye07 »

I'm doing a clean and inspect of my inboard fuel tank and discovered a 1/8" plastic hose laying in the bottom. Does anyone know if these tanks used a drop line to return the fuel to the bottom of the tank to minimize foaming? The return fitting does not have hardware to attach the hose, but the hose does fit up inside the fitting and is loosely held by friction. The local tank guy said he has seen drop lines used in other applications, but also said he has seen them not used. Any thoughts, a return line or someone dropped it in the tank at some point?

My D7 setup has a return line, with a second in-line filter. Never had the tank out, so can't offer an opinion on the hose you found though. I am pulling mine this winter for good and will look when it is out of the boat.
