Daggerboard Seam and Delam Repair

Post by Southern Gales »

Does anyone know what the blue spongy material inside the daggerboard is and how well epoxy resin will stick to it? I've opened up the seam along the entire perimeter and plan to insert woven matt 2" into the board along the entire seam. Also, one side of the board has delaminated below the horizontal centerline. The plan is to drill some holes and inject epoxy into them. I do have a template to keep the board shape within class regs. I'll try to attach some photos to this string.

Blue spongy bits,What is the material and how far in from the seam does it exist? Will epoxy stick well to it?

I would say that epoxy will stick to the blue stuff, but don't quote me.

Clamp the hell out of it. If it winds up just a little bit too fat, you have an issue.

When you are done, the whole board should be sealed (including the top); otherwise
you'll just get water in there again.

And oh yes, do your winter storage where it is above freezing.
