Thanks for all the great information, I just bought a s2 7.9 this past summer and after reading thru forum, I've learned a ton.
My first project is to replace the two pieces that cover the hole in the deck that the daggerboard pulls up into.
Any suggestions on what kind of material I should use to cut new pieces?
Also, the pieces are currently screwed down. Anyone have any better ideas on how to fasten other than screws? Looks like it might be possible to make a sort of custom inspection hatch that is easier to take off rather than unscrewing every time, just curious if anyone has ever tried anything like that?
Thanks,
Dave

Clear plexiglass works very well. You can get them fabricated locally for not too much money. I wouldn't worry about replacing the screws, there's no reason to go there very often!

Great, thanks for the tip! I'll look into using clear plexiglass.

Several owners have added cupholders when redoing the plexiglass covers. Something to consider. Your crew will thank you.upgradingdave wrote:Great, thanks for the tip! I'll look into using clear plexiglass.
